IRINI workshop is a collective of professional artists and restorers
founded in 2009.
The head and the organizer of the workshop is the artist-restorer Aleksej Ilalov. Now, because of the war in Ukraine, he moved and works in Serbia, in the city of Novi Sad.
But the workshop continues its work. And for 15 years now we hav been doing what we love and are responsible for it.
We carry out a wide range of artistic and restoration works.Priority directions are icon painting, icon restoration and easel painting.
Icons are written on the board with tempera or oil paint, carving on gesso
and chasing on gold.
Gilding is performed with gold leaf. When creating the image, we focus on the classic templates, however, if necessary, develop new icon basing on available information about the saint.
Among the works we have restored are not only private collection paintings, but also paintings from Ukrainian museums, such as
- Ukrainian Central State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts
- Chernigov National Architecture and History Reserve ‘Ancient Chernigiv’
- G. Galagan Chernigov Art Museum
And also icons from the collection of the Serbian
Orthodox Theological Seminary in Sremski Karlovci. The tomb for the laying of
the Shroud of the Cathedral of the Bacca Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church
- the Cathedral of St. George, Novi Sad.
Also, among our masters are gilders and wood carvers.
